Friend, Robert Kennedy Jr. is no stranger to frivolous lawsuits. The Children's Health Defense, an anti-vaxx organization that Kennedy founded, [sued Facebook]( over its fact-checkers calling out their bogus theories about vaccines. (And you know the stuff they were saying must have been bad if even Facebook took action against it!) Keep in mind that a study by the [Center for Countering Digital Hate]( found that just a dozen people are responsible for 65% of the COVID-19 disinformation being spread on social media platforms—Kennedy and his organization were listed as the second-biggest offender. So having Facebook limit what they could say on the platform must have really hurt. Unfortunately for Kennedy, the lawsuit against Facebook was thrown out. But that hasn't stopped Kennedy from filing more frivolous lawsuits—like this one against us. Kennedy is using his vast personal wealth to employ a law firm that has a long history of defending the worst of the worst, like serial sexual assaulter Harvey Weinstein, and silencing those that speak up against the injustices of the rich and famous. Let's face it, Daily Kos doesn't have the resources that Facebook has to defend ourselves against these petty and expensive lawsuits; especially one we are fighting in two states. [We need your help to protect our community and defend ourselves from anti-vaccination zealots like Kennedy. Nearly half of our revenue comes from thousands of grassroots supporters chipping in a few dollars at a time. That's why I am asking you to donate $5 to Daily Kos today.]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos P.S. [Public Citizen]( has joined us in this fight by providing legal representation pro-bono for the community writer at the center of this case. [Please consider making a donation to support their work.]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, as you might [recall](, anti-vaxx zealot Robert Kennedy Jr. has gone to court attempting to force Daily Kos to reveal the identity of one of our community members, who wrote a story critical of his attendance at a rally in Berlin organized and attended by Nazis. To be clear, a lot of media outlets called out Kennedy for attending a rally with neo-Nazis, but he isn't suing any of those outlets, because what the anonymous Daily Kos community member wrote about Kennedy is true. In fact, Kennedy isn't suing Daily Kos because, once again, what the anonymous Daily Kos community member wrote about Kennedy is true. Instead, Kennedy is throwing his fortune into these lawsuits just to punch down and reveal the identity of a Daily Kos commenter who dared to criticize him anonymously. [We need your help to protect our community and defend ourselves from anti-vaccination zealots. Lawsuits like these are expensive to deal with, and nearly half of our revenue comes from thousands of grassroots supporters chipping in a few dollars at a time. That's why I am asking you to donate $5 to Daily Kos today.]( With our case returning to court again this week, I wanted to introduce you to Kennedy's law firm: Boies Schiller Flexner. This law firm caters to the rich and famous that want to silence those who speak up against their injustices. This law firm was involved in trying to silence the accusers of [Harvey Weinstein](, punish the whistle blowers that brought attention to the fraud of [Theranos](, and worked to keep silent the reporting on the [Sony hack]( a few years back. Daily Kos has had to bring on multiple law firms to represent us in the case, as the fight now spans two states (California and New York), and might expand even further given the trajectory of the case. As you can imagine, this is getting expensive. This is a righteous fight. Kennedy bet on swamping us with legal expenses to win by default. You are allowing us to fight with every tool at our disposal. [Please, if you haven't already, take a minute to chip in $5 right now to help offset the cost of our defense against this wealthy anti-vaxxer?]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos P.S.
