Friend, [sign and send the petition: Demand that Billionaires pay their fair share in tax!]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( The [wealthiest 10% of Americans own 89% of all stocks](%E2%80%9CE2%80%9D?link_id=2&can_id=182efc9478a6381698b78cf0d4958057&source=email-billionaires-fly-to-space-while-we-struggle-to-pay-rent-signature-needed-11&email_referrer=email_1329895&email_subject=billionaires-fly-to-space-while-we-struggle-to-pay-rent-signature-needed), a record high. On top of that, U.S. billionaires' wealth surged 70%, or $2.1 trillion, during the pandemic -- they are now worth $5 trillion. It’s time to change the rules that allow for the richest to continue taking advantage of the rest of us. Right now, Congress is finalizing the Build Back Better Act, with some claiming we can’t afford necessities like universal pre-K and paid leave. They are trying to make us choose, making our communities compete for crumbs. What they fail to admit is that we can pay for all of this—if they have the courage to make the rich and corporations pay their fair share. [Sign and send the petition: Demand a billionaire income tax!]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Thanks for all you do, Mayra Souza, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier demanding a billionaire wealth tax: --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, [sign and send the petition: Demand that Congress tax the rich]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Our tax system is deeply broken. Every day we hear about people so rich they can build their own space fleet, but don’t pay anything in taxes. It’s not fair. Billionaires got 62% richer during the pandemic by profiting off of suffering. And where does that money come from? From us! Our wealth is distributed upwards. But we don’t have to resign ourselves to thinking, “that’s how things are.” Things don’t have to be that way if we change them by holding our elected officials accountable and demanding a more equitable tax system. [Sign and send the petition: Congress must tax billionaire wealth]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( The rich don’t get their income from a paycheck, they get it from growing the value of their investments. If we don’t tax their wealth, they will never have to pay their fair share, making us pay their share instead. It’s time to unrig our tax system, and that starts by taxing the extreme wealth gains of America’s 700+ billionaires. It would be a moral outrage if these extremely fortunate few did not pay more in taxes under the Build Back Better legislation! [Sing and send the petition: Write to your U.S. senators and representative today and call on them to include the Billionaires Income Tax in Build Back Better legislation to ensure billionaires begin paying their fair share toward critical investments in our future.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Keep fighting, Mayra Souza, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire backers like some right-wing media outlets.
