The GOP just used the filibuster to block the For the People Act, legislation that would fortify election security, expand mail-in voting and put an end to partisan gerrymandering. Voting rights are some of our most fundamental rights as Americans, but the GOP will stop at NOTHING to stay in power. There’s only one way out of this: The Senate must END the filibuster if it has any hope of promoting progress in this country. That will only happen if people like you come together and send a message to Congress — and with time running out, we’re still falling short of the signatures we need to force real change: [Will you add your name to Congresswoman Val Demings' (FL-10) petition now urging the U.S. Senate to end the filibuster? >>]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend: It’s time to eliminate the filibuster in the U.S. Senate. The American people mandated bold change in electing President Joe Biden and Democratic majorities in both chambers of Congress. That means action to halt the climate crisis. That means passing the Build Back Better economic agenda. That means protecting voting rights. But time and again, Mitch McConnell has used the filibuster to block progress on these critical issues — despite a large majority of Americans supporting President Biden’s agenda. We cannot wait any longer, which is why I’m counting on Democrats — including you — to join me in demanding the filibuster be eliminated. [Will you add your name to my petition now urging the U.S. Senate to end the filibuster? >>]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Mitch McConnell has said his number one priority is to block President Biden and Democrats’ agenda, and he’s relying on the filibuster to do it. So allow me to be frank, Friend: When a minority of elected officials block policy mandated by a vast majority of Americans, then our democratic institutions have failed us. With the filibuster intact, the U.S. Senate cannot function beneficially for the American people. But it’s going to take grassroots activism from all of us to ensure the filibuster is relegated to the past. [So please, join me in speaking out now. Before my 11:59 p.m. deadline, add your name to my petition calling on the Senate to eliminate the filibuster. >>]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Thank you, Congresswoman Val Demings (FL-10) Paid for by Val Demings for U.S. Senate. Does not equal endorsement. Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612. Sent via [ActionNetwork.org](.
