Friend, we urgently must fight climate changeâand the Build Back Better Act going through Congress is currently our best bet. But we need all House and Senate Democrats on board, and right now a few are shilling for the oil and gas industry. [Sign and send the petition: Our planet is on fire, literally. We can't wait to pass some historic investments in fighting climate change. Support the Build Back Better Act.]( [Sign and send the petition](
The Build Back Better Act puts the U.S. on track to meet President Bidenâs 80% electricity and 50% economy-wide carbon reductionsâhelping us reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and working to a more sustainable future. And the fossil fuel industry doesn't like that. As Congress returns from recess, seven House Democrats from TexasâHenry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, Lizzie Fletcher, Sylvia Garcia, Marc Veasey, Filemon Vela and Colin Allredâ[wrote a letter]( to House leadership complaining that the bill unfairly "targets" the oil and gas industry. This comes right as ExxonMobil and other oil companies are part of a massive [lobbying blitz]( to kill the Build Back Better Act. The fossil fuel industry has had it good for a very long time, and don't like that any serious effort to fight climate change will require that to change. We need to remind our House and Senate Democrats that they work for usâand not the oil and gas industry. Our planet is on fire, and we need to aggressively change our climate policy. [Sign and send the petition to your House and Senate Democrats: Climate can't wait. I support the comprehensive climate action that's part of the Build Back Better Act.]( [Sign and send the petition](

Another hot summer has gone by, and [one in 3 Americans]( experienced a weather disaster. I live in California, and to understand how bad our fire season has gotten just [look at this chart](: [Sign and send the petition: Our planet is on fire, literally. This week is the deadline for U.S. House committees to finalize what staysâand what goesâin the Build Back Better Act, as corporate lobbyists like ExxonMobil [fight hard]( to escape liability for fixing a mess that they created. The Build Back Better Act's climate components include new clean energy programs, tax incentives, and grants; new polluters fees; coastal resiliency programs; investments in combating drought and wildfire; and incentives for weatherization and green electrification. The plan also includes a jobs program called the Civilian Climate Corps (modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps from the New Deal) that was left out of the bipartisan infrastructure plan. This may be our last best opportunity to fight climate change. Some politicians groan about the cost of the plan. But with fires ravaging California, floods and hurricanes hitting the East Coast and South, and record triple-digit temperatures across the country, we must ask these politicians: [what is the cost of doing nothing](? [Sign and send the petition to your House and Senate Democrats: Climate can't wait. We are in an emergency. We are counting on you to pass the Build Back Better Act with historic investments while we still have time.]( [Sign and send the petition](
