Friend, in states across the country the freedom to vote is under attack by extremist lawmakers who want to put up deliberate barriers to make it harder to vote -- especially for people of color. Countless states have aggressively passed targeted and racist voter suppression laws to make it harder for people to vote. Activists from across the country are fighting to keep our freedom to vote. Now it’s time for Congress to honor the will of the people and pass the For the People Act. We cannot let Congress go to recess until S1 is passed. Make your voice heard by urging your senator to pass the For the People Act NOW. Call Senator Charles E. Schumer at (202) 224-6542 and Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand at (202) 224-4451.Urge them to honor the will of the people and pass the For the People Act. Here is a message you can leave when you get an aide or voicemail: Hello, my name is (SAY YOUR FIRST NAME) (SAY YOUR LAST NAME) calling from 10016 in New York. The right to vote is at the very heart of democracy and must be defended for EVERY voter, regardless of party. Voter suppression in all its forms is wrong. Use every tool available to pass S.1, the For the People Act. Thank you. [Once you have completed your call, click here. Pass the For the People Act now!]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( The For the People Act (S1) would expand voting rights--for example, protecting early voting which has been relentlessly attacked--and limit the influence of dark money and corporate donors on our government. It would combat hyper-partisan gerrymandering, create high ethical standards for elected officials, and enforce anti-corruption measures. Ultimately, this bill would increase access to the ballot and give everyday voters a more powerful voice in our government. S1 must be passed and signed into law before the end of summer in order to go into effect before the 2022 midterms, and to prevent the drawing of hyper-partisan maps that threaten to disenfranchise voters, especially voters of color, for the next decade. Call Senator Charles E. Schumer at (202) 224-6542 and Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand at (202) 224-4451. Demand they use every legal and constitutional tool available to pass the For the People Act.
