Friend, 18 states have enacted [30 laws]( that would suppress access to the ballot box. A lot of these laws target vote-by-mail, which was widely used this last election due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Georgia, where voters not only helped send Biden to the White House but also flipped control of the Senate by electing Democrats Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, state Republicans have passed almost every type of law imaginable to restrict voting. In the Peach State, they can now reduce ballot drop-off boxes, impose stricter voter ID requirements, eliminate no-excuse absentee voting, and even have Republicans take over local election boards in blue areas of the state. That's not all. At least four states are imposing harsher voter ID requirements, reducing the hours and locations for early voting, and expanding voter registration purges. Further, even though many people can face wait times of several hours to cast their ballots, Georgia and Florida are making it illegal for volunteers to hand out water and snacks to voters who are waiting in line. [Voter suppression is a fundamental attack on democracy that Republicans have deployed repeatedly to maintain their power, but we're fighting back. Daily Kos has identified 19 grassroots organizations in key swing states that are on the ground in communities targeted by Republican voter suppression efforts. These groups are working to protect voting rights, educate voters and turn them out no matter what. Please help cancel Republican voter suppression by donating to these organizations today.]( Keep fighting, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, a person's access to the ballot box shouldn't depend on where they live, but that is exactly what we are seeing Republican-led states. According to the [Brennan Center for Justice](, since the 2020 elections,18 states have enacted 30 laws making it harder to cast your vote. The laws include a variety of tactics like making it harder to vote by mail, limiting early voting options, purging voter registration rolls, and hasher ID requirements. The For the People Act, which has passed the House of Representatives and has majority support in the U.S. Senate, is transformational policy that would outlaw many of these tactics. Unfortunately, Senate Republicans would prefer if less people voted, and are using the filibuster to block this bill from becoming law. [Until federal legislation to protect our right to vote is signed into law, we are going to have to dig deep, get local and fight in the key states and communities where the right to vote is under attack. That's why I am asking you to donate $1 to these 19 grassroots organizations that are not only working to block restrictive voting bills in their states, but to educate voters about their rights and turn them out to vote despite any new restrictions Republicans are able to institute.]( - Pennsylvania Stands Up - Down Home North Carolina - Action St. Louis Power Project - West Virginia Citizen Action Group - Arizona Coalition for Change / Our Voice Our Vote Arizona - Florida Rights Restoration Coalition - Living United Change for Arizona (LUCHA) - PODER / PODER in Action - Georgia Stand Up - Detroit Action - One Arizona - We the People - PLAN Action - Florida Rising - CASA in Action - Mijente - Seeding Sovereignty - ProGeorgia State Table - Coalition for the Peoples' Agenda [I hope you can give $1 to each of these organizations that are working on the ground to fight for your, and thousands of others, right to vote.]( Keep fighting, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
