Friend, Hervis Rogers gained national attention as the civic minded champion who was the last person to vote in Harris County, Texas at 1 AM. But Rogers is now being prosecuted by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's office for allegedly voting illegally. [Our freedom to vote is on the line; we must urge Congress to move urgently. Rogers was one of millions of people in America without the right to vote, because of laws in a number of states prohibiting formerly convicted felons from participating in elections while still on parole. His parole ended in June 2020 after he voted, which in Texas is currently illegal. Dozens of states are passing outrageous voter access laws that are rooted in racism. These laws discriminate against Black, brown, and native communities the most. Without federal regulation and oversight, states will continue to pass laws that limit voting access in these communities. This is why we must act now to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act with swiftness and urgency. We cannot let Republican-controlled states continue this vengeful mission to strip away voting rights, particularly impacting Black and brown voters. We must urge our members of Congress to pass HR4 and protect voting rights across the country. [Sign and send the petition to Congress: Protect our freedom to vote.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION](

Friend, our freedom to vote is on the line. We must band together and urge Congress to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights act immediately to protect our democracy. [Sign and send the petition to Congress: Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION](
The U.S. Supreme Courtâs conservatives struck a historic blow against the Voting Rights Act by upholding two voting laws passed by Arizona Republicans that had both the effect and intent of discriminating against Black, Latino, and Native American voters. The Supreme Court gave a green light to politicians to attack votersâ rights and pass new laws with this outrageous ruling. [We must act now to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act with swiftness and urgency. Sign and send the petition to Congress: Protect our freedom to vote.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION](
The John Lewis Voting Rights Act (HR 4) would strengthen voting rights by expanding and strengthening the government's ability to respond to voting discrimination. This bill will allow the federal government to track the impact of voting laws, determine whether voter suppression is taking place, and send in enforcement to protect those being affected. Additionally, the federal government must grant pre-clearance for future legislative proposals. This clause would provide stronger oversight thus not allowing states to pass racially targeted voting laws. We cannot let Republican-controlled states continue this vengeful mission to strip away voting rights, particularly impacting Black and brown voters. We must urge our members of Congress to pass HR4 and protect voting rights across the country.
