Friend, real quick update – Plastic pollution is a growing concern for families across the globe. From cradle to grave, plastics are adding to climate change, pollution, and inequality. When children can see this is an issue, it is our duty to take action. We know this issue isn't going away that's why we have to keep up the fight. [Sign our petition and contact your representative today and ask them to pass the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( This is the email we recently sent you. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Sign Moms Clean Air Force's petition and help us break free from plastic pollution!]( [SIGN ON]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, Plastic pollution is a growing concern for families across the globe. We see it every day; whether it is a bag caught in a tree, our children’s food containers, or litter on the side of the road. But plastics are also impacting our health. In fact, studies suggest humans are ingesting an average of 5 grams of plastic every week globally, the equivalent of a credit card. This plastic contamination comes from “microplastics” – particles smaller than five millimeters – which are making their way into our food, drinking water, and even the air. From a young age, my daughter would point out the trash when we were walking, whether we were in our neighborhood or out in nature. As a parent, I responded by reducing our family’s consumption of plastic at home, but we wanted to do more. When she was six years old, my daughter helped me testify at our local City Council to eliminate single-use plastic bags, a good first step. But, we need national action on this issue to make a real impact on global plastic use. [Contact your representative today and ask them to pass the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act.]( [SIGN ON]( From cradle to grave, plastics are adding to climate change, pollution, and inequality. When children can see this is an issue, it is our duty to take action. The U.S. produces the most plastic waste per capita of any country, and an astounding 91% of that plastic is never recycled. The petrochemical industry and the pollution it creates disproportionately harm people of color and low-income communities at every step of the plastic lifecycle, from extraction to refinement, manufacture, transportation, disposal, and waste. The time to act is now. [The Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act of 2021 will tackle the exploding crisis of plastic pollution and transform waste and recycling management in the United States.]( [SIGN ON]( This legislation seeks to meaningfully address the plastic pollution crisis by: - Shifting the responsibility for waste management and recycling programs to manufacturers and producers - Prohibiting plastic waste from being exported to developing countries - Establishing minimum recycled content standards - Phasing out certain single-use plastic products that aren’t recyclable - And much more! [We are asking our representatives in Congress to join the movement to address plastic pollution and support the Break Free From Plastic Act.]( [SIGN ON]( For our children, Celerah Hewes New Mexico Field Organizer, Moms Clean Air Force Paid for by Moms Clean Air Force.
