Hey friend, I wanted to share this incredible story with you about how a tiny abortion fund was able to support a family in the Deep South. A family of four reached out to one of our partners. Like so many other families, the cost of an abortion put it out of reach for them. The mother would also have to go out of state for close to a week to have the procedure, leaving her disabled husband with two young children and no additional help at home. Between the cost of the abortion and travel, and the lack of childcare, this family was unable to access an abortion on their own. Thankfully, the abortion fund was able to cover the cost of the procedure, transportation and travel costs, and provide childcare, which allowed the father to join the mother during the abortion. The fund also helped the family cover the pay lost from taking time off from work so that they didn't fall behind on bills. The mother was able to access the care she needed knowing that her family had what they needed. [Our partners have dozens of stories like this. Abortion funds are a critical line of support. After hearing this story, I chipped in to help the next family get the care they needed. If you can, I ask that you also donate whatever is meaningful to you to support the work of abortion funds in frontline states like Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, and Texas.]( [DONATE](

Friend, on Monday, May 17, the Supreme Court [agreed]( to hear a Mississippi 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade and violates decades of precedent. For the first time, the extremist, anti-abortion supermajority that Trump installed on the Supreme Court will hear a case that threatens Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. There is no path for the Supreme Court to uphold the Mississippi ban without overturning Roeâs core holding. If Roe [fell]( tomorrow, 24 states would likely act to ban abortion. Eleven states already have trigger bans in place, which would immediately ban abortion if Roe was overturned. However, the landscape of future bans doesnât tell the whole story: the South is already post-Roe. Legislators have legalized endless assaults on our bodily agency and autonomy for years. We need to support abortion funds on the ground now. [If the Supreme Court decides to uphold Mississippiâs abortion ban, Black, brown, Indigenous, disabled, low-income, and LGBTQ+ people will be most severely affected. Please chip in to support abortion funds that help people with the financial and practical resources necessary to access abortion.]( [DONATE](
As the former Vice Chair of a Southern abortion fund, I can tell you from personal experience that every single dollar you contribute to an abortion fund counts. Because the Hyde Amendment prohibits federal funds from covering abortion, many patients have to pay for their procedure out of pocket. This can often lead to people delaying household bills, skipping groceries for the week, or selling personal and sentimental items. Abortion funds work to ensure that no one has to go hungry, risk their heat or electric turning off, or lose cherished possessions simply to access healthcare. When you donate to an abortion fund, you help provide the money needed for small grants and practical assistance like housing, transportation, childcare, lodging, and translation services for people seeking abortion care. [Right now, it is crucial that we direct resources to abortion funds in particularly hostile states like Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, and Texas. I am personally asking you to contribute $1 each to ten funds working to make sure people in their communities can access abortion care.]( [DONATE](
