Friend, [sign the petition to the U.S. Senate: Pass the Violence Against Women Act immediately.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), legislation that protects women from domestic violence, currently sits in the U.S. Senate awaiting reauthorization. If reauthorized, VAWA will provide billions of dollars in grants for life-saving programs combatting domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. In March 2021, the House of Representatives passed the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2021. It is absolutely crucial that every single senator works to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act IMMEDIATELY. [Sign and send the petition: The Senate must protect victims of violence.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( First passed in 1994, VAWA has been reauthorized with overwhelming bipartisan support in the years 2000, 2005 and 2013. However, it lapsed during the Trump era, ending in October 2018. Meanwhile, 1 in 4 women experience severe intimate partner physical violence. We must demand the Senate reauthorize VAWA so that advocates working everyday can continue to support survivors as they rebuild their lives and seek justice and safety. [Sign and send the petition to the Senate: Reauthorize VAWA immediately!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for all you do, Erin Tulley, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
