[Sign MoveOn’s petition to demand that the state of Georgia recall Governor Kemp!]( [SIGN ON]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, Governor Kemp recently signed a bill into law that makes it a crime to offer food or water to voters in line, restricts who can vote with provisional ballots, imposes new oversight restrictions, and limits ballot drop boxes, ironically Kemp’s own voting method. It is clear that Governor Kemp and his Republican cronies, unhappy with the election results of 2020, are seeking to change the rules and disenfranchise Black, low-income, and younger voters. Kemp has repeatedly botched Georgia’s pandemic response by following in Trump’s failed footsteps. When state leaders learned of the coronavirus and were shutting their states down to stop the spread, Kemp was dragging and risking the lives of Georgians. While other states were listening to public health experts, Kemp risked the lives of working families by opening up the state early in order to avoid paying unemployment to suffering Georgians. While experts were highlighting the importance of wearing a mask, Kemp was refusing to require masks in the state. Some local leaders like Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms took the lead to protect their cities and issued their own mask mandates. The Kemp Administration then sued the mayor for doing the right thing. The dangerous insurrection that Donald Trump inspired on January 6 continues in state legislatures like Georgia across the country, as white supremacist Trump loyalists advance the most draconian restrictions to limit voting since the Jim Crow era. Black and AAPI voters showed electoral power in 2020, and now, Governor Kemp and the Georgia GOP have rigged the system using familiar and blatant voter suppression tactics that have a long and storied history in the South. Georgia leaders fought against the bill, including Rep. Park Cannon, who was arrested for simply trying to attend the signing. Thousands of Georgians have died from COVID-19 as a result of Kemp’s failures, and now, voter suppression bills that are targeting Black, AAPI, and other people of color have been signed into law. [That’s why we’re asking you to take action to recall Governor Kemp, NOW!]( [SIGN ON]( Thanks for all you do, MoveOn Paid for by MoveOn. Does not equal endorsement.
