Friend, last year, Georgia voters faced [hours-long lines]( while waiting to cast their ballots. Volunteers from campaigns and non-profits would hand out water and food, sometimes even having pizza delivered so that people could keep their place in line to exercise their right to vote. However, thanks to a new, cruel, Georgia state law, it is now illegal to hand out water and food to people waiting in line to vote. Worse, [other states]( are looking to adopt laws similar to the one passed in Georgia. As bad as this is, denying food and water to voters waiting in long lines is just one way that Republican legislators are trying to make it more difficult to vote. Many of the proposed bills would also restrict absentee voting, reduce opportunities for voter registration, expand voter roll purges, and put more onerous voter ID requirements in place. The [Brennan Center for Justice]( has been tracking restrictive voting proposals in state legislatures. Their analysis found that 55 restrictive bills in 24 states are moving forward, with 29 bills having passed at least one chamber.
