Friend, Congress is on recess now until April 11. During this time, members will be back in their home districts to hear from constituents. Now is the time to let them know we want progressive leadership: green jobs, climate solutions, real democracy for all of our people by ending voter suppression and partisan gerrymandering, and getting big money out of politics. The American Rescue Plan was a good start, but it's only a first step towards helping our communities thrive. If they are in public, they will be outdoors and practice safe social distancing.]( [Click to find nearest event]( [Can't attend an event? Back then, the right-wing Tea Party stormed town halls during congressional recess—and intimidated members of Congress. This time, we are prepared to defend our recent victories: and urge our Democratic allies to fight for bolder, more progressive change. So far, the [results this time]( are encouraging—but we must be vigilant. Democrats must be told that we're counting on them to support democracy reform, a green infrastructure plan, racial justice reform and more. And Republicans must be asked why they're standing in the way. If you go to [Recovery Recess](, you can find an event nearest you and RSVP. And if you can't find an event nearby—or you feel like the events are missing something important—you can also go ahead and start your own Recovery Recess event. All event participants are expected to wear a mask, maintain social distancing, have weighed their own risk in attending, and follow all local safety guidelines at minimum, and any safety instructions from hosts that exceed local law. Individual hosts are responsible for compliance with their own local laws and event requirements (including orders limiting the sizes of events). Additionally, a core principle shared by supporting organizations is a commitment to nonviolent, peaceful actions. All actions that are sponsored or organized with Recovery Recess are intended to be nonviolent and peaceful. We expect all participants to act lawfully at all times and to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
