Friend, Senator Marco Rubio thinks it's a waste of time to hold an impeachment trial to hold Trump accountable for inciting an insurrection and violent attack on our democracy. Maybe it's just me, but I always thought that having a democracy in America mattered. In fact, it's what has mattered most about this country since it was founded, and why Trump's attempts to destroy it will always matter. Since the November election, Trump uttered lie after lie about how he won the election, how it was stolen, how there was widespread fraud. He used those lies to try and overturn an election that he clearly lost, including by inciting an armed mob to break into the Capitol and violently disrupt the certification of his defeat. The impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate is imperative to hold Trump accountable for the violent attack on what matters most in our country. Clearly, Rubio's comments show that just holding Trump accountable is not enough. So here's the deal: Rubio is up for re-election in 2022, and he is putting Trump over country because he thinks he needs the right-wing authoritarian vote in order to win. We've got to show him there's a price to pay for supporting Trump instead of our democracy. [Make Rubio and all of Trump Republican enablers pay: Chip in $1 right now to each the Senate Democratic nominee funds in the six states we can flip from red to blue in 2022.]( [CONTRIBUTE]( Keep fighting, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
