Friend, earlier this week, a Texas judge issued an unjust temporary restraining order (TRO) to halt the implementation of President Biden’s executive order that placed a 100-day moratorium on deportations. Since then, a group of Black immigrants have been deported to Jamaica and many others are at risk for family separation, even former DACA recipients like [Javier Castillo Maradiaga](. Activists and immigration attorneys successfully halted his deportation from Alexandria, Louisiana, and he was transferred back to an ICE facility in New York just days ago. Now, ICE has transferred him back to Louisiana, a potential threat of deportation and clear example of retaliation. We cannot allow ICE to mistreat our community members like this. Fortunately, there is something tangible we can do about ICE's mistreatment of undocumented youth like Javier Castillo Maradiaga: pay DACA application and renewal fees. United We Dream has set up a DACA application fund to do just that. Money raised for the fund will help protect youth across the country and secure the futures of so many community members. [Chip in $10 to United We Dream’s DACA application fund for undocumented youth like Javier who have every right to live and thrive here in the United States. DACA application and renewal fees cost $495 -- as much as rent in some parts of the country. When we invest in the futures of Black and brown youth, we are a step closer to building a more just world together. Let’s keep it up!]( In solidarity, Ntebo Mokuena, Daily Kos --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, the power of the people has been truly inspiring. Black and brown leaders mobilized millions for Black lives and historic elections — and we won! However, under the Trump administration, it’s been incredibly challenging for undocumented youth. While we are turning a new corner with the newly-sworn-in Biden-Harris administration, flipped Senate, and strong House of Representatives, it will take time to undo racist, xenophobic anti-immigrant policies. Earlier this month, the immigrant justice movement landed victory when a New York court ordered the government to reopen the DACA program for renewed and first time applicants. Now, as we wait for yet another court, this time in Texas, to hand down a decision that will affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of undocumented youth, and with an increased need, the waitlist for funds has grown. That’s where dedicated grassroots activists like you, Friend, come in: It’s more important than ever that we support our own community members by replenishing our ally United We Dream’s DACA Application Fund. [Take a moment to chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can give to United We Dream’s DACA Application Fund. One new DACA application or renewal costs $495: these exorbitant fees create another form of family separation. With your support, funds raised will help keep undocumented youth with their families and communities in the United States.]( Keep fighting, Ntebo Mokuena, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
