Friend, while a final vote will take a while, Senate Democrats may decide as soon as next week if they go forward with passing COVID relief through budget reconciliation (which would require only 51 votes), or if they instead impose a 60-vote requirement that would allow Republicans to hold any relief bill hostage. Every Senate Democrat must be on board with budget reconciliation. [Sign and send the petition to your Senate Democrat(s): We have a COVID crisis with millions unemployed, and need a robust $1.9 trillion package. Please go forward on this relief via budget reconciliation so that it can actually pass.]( [Sign and send the petition]( We are in a crisis. Thousands of people are dying every day, our economy continues to backslide, and frightening new COVID variants are engaged in a high stakes race against our vaccination program. What Congress does now can be decisive, and Senate Democrats must know that going forward with a big relief package is the only real solution. Right now, we are in danger of repeating the mistakes of 2009. Back then, Democrats cut back on the size of the federal stimulus package in response to the financial crisis in the vain hope that doing so would lead to increased bipartisanship from Republicans. Democrats cannot repeat the same mistakes again. Republicans are free to support a relief package, and engage in good-faith negotiations. However, all 50 Senate Democrats must make it clear that passing a relief bill which gets us out of this pandemic and out of this economic depression is more important than bipartisanship. [Sign and send the petition to your Senate Democrats: Go big, or go home. Support a major pandemic relief package via budget reconciliation, and we will have your backs.]( [Sign and send the petition]( Keep fighting, Paul Hogarth, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire sugar daddies like some right-wing media outlets.
