Huge voting rights victory in Arizona this week, Friend! A federal judge an order extending the vote

Huge voting rights victory in Arizona this week, Friend! A federal judge [issued]( an order extending the voter registration deadline in the state from October 5 to October 23! “[A] core tenet of democracy is to be ruled by a government that represents the population,” U.S. District Judge Steven P. Logan wrote in his decision. “Due to COVID-19, a portion of the population is prevented from registering to vote, and thus the integrity of the election is undermined in a different way; that portion is going unrepresented. Extending the deadline would give more time for those voters to register and let their voices be heard through the democratic process.” Not only does this ruling uphold the fundamental right to vote, it allows us more time to help many more voters have their voices heard in this election! Arizona is critical. If Democrat Mark Kelly defeats right-wing Republican Senator Martha McSally, he could be able to take his seat in the Senate this November — making it a little harder for Mitch McConnell to unleash whatever unholy terror he has planned for the lame duck session. [The extended voter registration timeline gives the frontline organizations Daily Kos has teamed up with the ability to connect with some of the hardest to reach communities, particularly those facing language and access barriers. Thankfully, these orgs are already in motion. Help them expand the voter universe by chipping $1 to each organization today!]( Keep fighting, Monique Teal, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612. Sent via [ActionNetwork.org](.
