Friend, [sign and send the petition to your U.S. Senator: Immigrant lives are on the line. Stop the sham SCOTUS confirmation process.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( As soon as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away on September 18, Donald Trump was quick to nominate Amy Coney Barrett. Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans committed to rushing the ultra-conservative, friend of Alliance Defending Freedom justice to the bench. Now immigrant communities are at greater risk of racial profiling, detention, and deportation. If Barrett were confirmed, the consequences would be disastrous for immigrant people and families. In Cook County v. Wolf, Barrett dissented from a ruling that struck down the Trump administration’s harsh “public charge” rule – meaning she would have upheld the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant rule that essentially created a wealth test for green card applicants. In another case, Barrett [denied]( protection to a man who was being targeted by MS-13 and sought asylum and protections under the Convention Against Torture. We deserve a Supreme Court where immigrant people are seen as important community members and whose rights are defended. [Sign and send if you agree: Amy Coney Barrett’s immigration track record speaks volumes. She is unfit for the Supreme Court.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Just this year, the Supreme Court decided to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program from total gutting by the Trump administration. A 6-3 neo-conservative Court would likely have ended the program, putting thousands of young immigrants out of work and at risk for deportation. We cannot afford another Trump judge. Amy Coney Barrett is unfit to fill Justice Ginsburg’s shoes on the Supreme Court. She has put partisan politics and xenophobia over protecting our communities. She has floundered to deliver justice to immigrant communities. With big immigration cases that could be heard before the Supreme Court including on Trump’s classist and ableist public charge rule — which Barrett supports — our senators must listen to a majority of Americans’ demands to stop the confirmation sham and wait until after Inauguration Day. [Sign and send the petition to your U.S. senators: Immigrant lives are on the line. Wait until after inauguration to confirm the next SCOTUS justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( In solidarity, Ntebo Mokuena, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire sugar daddies like some right-wing media outlets.
