Friend, this is an all hands on deck red alert! We need you to demand your senator not confirm a new SCOTUS justice. [Sign and send the petition: The Senate must wait until after Inauguration Day to confirm a new Supreme Court justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( On September 18, 2020, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away at age 87. This has left an opening on the Supreme Court that Trump is not hesitating to fill. Trump plans to [announce]( his nomination just days after RBG’s passing. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already [announced]( he plans to bring that nomination to the Senate floor. Let us not forget, four years ago McConnell refused to vote on a Supreme Court nominee, supposedly because of an election that was to take place eight months later. With an election less than seven weeks away, it is the height of hypocrisy for McConnell to ignore the standard he set. The American people must have a say in who sits in our highest court. We must reach out to our senators and demand they not confirm Trump’s nominee. [Sign and send the petition to your Senator: Urge them to wait until after Inauguration Day to confirm a Supreme Court justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Thanks for all you do, Erin Tulley, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier this weekend demanding the Senate not confirm a new SCOTUS justice until after Inauguration Day: --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, [sign and send if you agree: the next president should nominate the next Supreme Court justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( On September 18, 2020, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg [passed away]( at age 87. Her storied 27-year tenure as the second woman justice on the U.S. Supreme Court followed a [lifelong dedication]( to advancing the rights of women. Justice Ginsburg defended, protected, and advanced reproductive rights despite relentless attacks by Republican lawmakers. And now her seat on the Supreme Court is vacant under the Trump administration. Our country is reeling with the coronavirus pandemic, rampant police violence and immigration enforcement, and an economic recession. Just under three years ago, thousands of community members took to the streets to [protest]( Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. As we get closer to the November election and Trump continues to threaten DACA, reproductive rights, and vote-by-mail -- and by extension, our democracy -- the American people should have a say in who sits in our highest court. [Sign and send the petition to your Senator: Urge them to wait until after Inauguration Day to confirm a Supreme Court justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( In order for a new Supreme Court justice to be confirmed, Donald Trump must submit a nomination to the Senate Judiciary Committee, then the Committee will hold a nomination hearing and make a recommendation for the full Senate to then vote on. The November election is less than 60 days away and the people should have a say in who will make decisions that will impact our lives for decades to come. [Sign and send the petition to your Senator: Urge them to wait until after Inauguration Day to confirm a Supreme Court justice.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( In solidarity, Ntebo Mokuena, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire sugar daddies like some right-wing media outlets.
