Friend, in response to the postal service crisis, : House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has the House

Friend, in response to the postal service crisis, [Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called the House of Representatives back into session in order to pass emergency legislation](: House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has[confirmed]( the House will be called back from August recess on Saturday to vote on[legislation]( to block the leadership of the U.S. Postal Service from inflicting further damage to the institution and to force it to revert to pre-coronavirus operational procedures. In addition, the House is going to[include]( $25 billion in funding for the Postal Service, upping the stakes. This is good news, but we all know what stands in the way of this desperately needed legislation: Mitch McConnell and the Republican-controlled Senate. Even before the pandemic and before impeachment, [McConnell buried over 400 bills that the House of Representatives passed](. Time after time, McConnell and his fellow Senate Republicans have aided and abetted Trump's attack on our democracy, our livelihoods and our lives by refusing to even hold votes on dozens of crucial pieces of legislation. Our only remaining response to McConnell and his co-conspirators should be to do whatever we can to kick them out of office. [Democrats need to net at least three seats to take back the Senate majority. The Daily Kos endorsements team has identified the races that we can impact the most and will determine the Senate majority. That's why I'm asking you to chip in $1 to each of these seven Daily Kos-endorsed Democrats right now.]( Keep fighting, Chris Bowers Executive Campaign Director, Daily Kos P.S. Below, you can see an email that my colleague Michael Langenmayr sent you over the weekend. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, - Americans are [losing their homes]( as eviction moratoriums expire - Students are [being quarantined]( as schools rush to reopen and COVID-19 cases [skyrocket]( - The United States Postal Service is [being sabotaged]( by Donald Trump to steal the election And you don't need to take my word on that last point: Trump himself confirmed he's holding back USPS funding because it's [necessary]( to support the expected surge in mail-in voting. This is just the past week in Trump's America. We are facing crises on multiple fronts and it is at this time that Senate Republicans decided to pack it up and go home. That's right: They walked away from coronavirus relief talks with Democrats and [took a recess](. Republicans only ever take action when there's a price to pay for inaction. So let's make them pay.
