Friend, slowing the spread of coronavirus is a top priority. But millions of people cannot afford to miss a paycheck or even a shift, so they work even when they are feeling under the weather. [Sign the petition: We need paid sick leave.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Paid sick leave allows the people we come into contact with every day — retail workers, food service employees and many, many others — to stay home and not risk lives by coming to work ill. It also allows workers to take time off if their household has been exposed or someone in their family is at high risk. The House [passed]( the Families First Coronavirus Response Act — legislation that frees up federal resources that will help curb the spread of the virus and provide resources, including paid sick leave. Unfortunately, the bill only covers some workers and leaves millions behind. Thanks to Republican attacks on working people for the better part of the last century, the United States is the only industrialized nation without paid sick leave. To protect our health and our economic security, Congress must pass a national paid sick leave standard.
