Friend, today, the House is sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, and named seven members of the House to act as prosecutors. This sets up a timeline to have procedural steps of the Senate trial begin tomorrow, with the arguments starting on Tuesday, January 21. Mitch McConnell has already said that the Senate will decide on whether or not to even call witnesses till after opening arguments -- leaving the door open to have NO witnesses and NO evidence presented during the trial. A fair trial includes documents and witnesses. If the trial doesn't involve those things, the Republican-controlled Senate would be holding nothing more than a sham trial. [We need to raise our voices so they are deafening: We demand a fair trial -- with evidence and witnesses. Support Daily Kos' biggest campaign EVER to convict and remove Trump from office by giving $5 NOW.]( - [66% of Americans]( surveyed want former National Security Advisor John Bolton to testify. Bolton has key insights into Trump's relationship with Ukraine and referred to Trump's quid pro quo with the foreign country as a "drug deal". Bolton has recently said that he would be willing to testify in front of the Senate. - [52% of Americans]( support impeaching Trump. This number hasn't budged since Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced an official impeachment inquiry in late September. Poll after poll show that American voters want a fair trial with real witnesses and they want to see Trump held accountable for his corruption. Daily Kos has no plans to relent pressure on the eight key Senators who will determine how the trial is conducted, and thus play a pivotal role in whether Trump is convicted and removed from office. Since September, the Daily Kos community has made 68,136 calls and sent 622,572 letters to Congress calling for Trump to be held accountable. We are continuing the calls this week demanding a fair trial, one that involves witnesses and documented evidence. But we aren't stopping with phone calls and letters. We are taking the campaign directly to the backyards of eight vulnerable and persuadable senators. We have hired field organizers to run press events and drive mobilization, we have produced mobile billboards to grab the attention of the senators, the public and the press, and we are running digital ads to drive even more constituent activism. [Impeaching, convicting and removing Trump is our largest campaign EVER. We cannot allow the opportunity to remove Trump from office pass by without giving it everything we have and leaving nothing on the field. Support our campaign by giving $5 now.]( Keep fighting, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
