Donald Trump has been impeached. But Republicans in the U.S. Senate are refusing to hold a fair trial. They [know he is guilty](, and any proper trial with witnesses & evidence will expose it to the world. So they have resorted to pushing a sham trial that will be over quickly.
âThe Senate has a job to do,â said [Senator Patrick Leahy]( (D-VT.) âAnd itâs not to rig the trial in favor of â or against â President Trump. Our job is to follow the facts and abide by the Constitution. An acquittal based on anything less would hardly be an acquittal at all.â
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has wisely withheld sending articles of impeachment to the U.S. Senate, until there are explicit promises of a fair trial. Republicans are furious, because she has called their bluff. But they can end this impasse, if they uphold their constitutional oath.
Now, more than ever, we need you to pile on and urge the Senate to hold a fair trial.
