Friend, we are one year from Election Day 2020. This will likely be the hardest fought election in our lifetime. Over the next couple of months, we will remain focused on Trump's impeachment. We need to keep in mind that impeachment is important to uphold the rule of law and that no one is above the law, especially the president. However, we also need to face the reality that convincing 20 Republican Senators to actually put country above party and vote to remove Trump from office will be very challenging. [We need to prepare to remove Trump from office by voting him out. That's why I am asking you to support Daily Kos’s electoral work--news coverage, candidate endorsements, Get Out the Vote, fighting voter suppression--from now until November 3, 2020 by giving $5 a month.]( [Can't do a monthly contribution? A one-time donation will greatly support our work.]( It's not enough to remove just Trump. We need to remove all his enablers in the Senate and the House that allowed him to disregard the constitution, turned a blind eye to all his corruption, and supported his bigoted policies. We need to remove senators like Susan Collins that compromised her principles and ignored her constituents to vote for Trump's supreme court pick Brett Kavanaugh. We need to remove Lindsey Graham who is so power-hungry that he has become Trump's top defender. We need to make sure that Mitch McConnell can no longer lead a majority of the United States Senate, where he has been the self-proclaimed “grim reaper” of progressive legislation. There are vulnerable Senators in Iowa, North Carolina, Arizona, and Colorado -- if we can pick up four more seats, we can remove #MoscowMitch from power and actually pass some meaningful legislation.  [Trump and his campaign have already raised $300 million this year. That puts Trump and the Republicans at a huge advantage. With that amount of money, we need to be prepared for ANYTHING that the Republicans (or the Russians) throw at us. Can you support our electoral work--news coverage, candidate endorsements, Get Out the Vote, fighting voter suppression--by giving $5 a month?]( [Can't do a monthly contribution? A one-time donation will greatly support our work.]( In the 2018 cycle, Daily Kos ran our largest get-out-the-vote operation ever. We recruited over 37,500 volunteers for 63,728 GOTV activities. They used innovative new platforms like Mobilize America, Vote Forward and VoteWithMe to conduct our most effective Get Out the Vote effort ever. These efforts helped lead to record-breaking turnout in the 2018 midterm elections, and next year we plan on going even bigger. We learned a lot from our successful 2018 effort and we plan to go even bigger in 2020--because we have to. But doing that won’t be easy--or cheap. Getting out the vote requires purchasing platforms that help connect our volunteers to campaigns, increasing our communication and advertising costs to make sure we are reaching every person who might volunteer to help turnout Democratic voters, and forgoing opportunities to make money for ourselves so that we can spend all our staff time directing resources to the crucial swing states that will decide who wins the White House and the U.S. Senate. [One year from today, the voters will decide what our country's future holds; more corruption, bigotry, and go-nowhere policies or access to affordable healthcare, a fair economy that benefits everyone, and real action towards combating climate change. We can only make this happen with continued grassroots support. Can you make a monthly contribution to support our electoral plans?]( [Can't do a monthly contribution? Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
