Quick update on Mitch McConnell, Friend: Trump's most powerful ally is now running campaign ads on Facebook pledging to block any impeachment attempt for as long as he remains in charge of the Senate. We know Moscow Mitch will rig any impeachment trial in Trump's favor, so let's make sure he can't rig his own election next year. [Help stop McConnell's friends from winning crucial statewide seats this November. Please chip in $1 each to organizations working around the clock to turn out progressive voters.]( Keep fighting, Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos P.S. Below I've included an email from my colleague Monique Teal that explains more about why this election is so important. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, Mitch McConnell has been holding this country hostage for years. In 2020, we'll have a chance to finally kick Trump's most powerful ally out of office. To get there, we first have to stop his acolytes from winning critical statewide offices this November. In just a few short weeks, Kentucky will go to the polls to elect a slew of offices, including governor, secretary of state, and attorney general. These positions come with enormous power and will be able to shape how elections next year are conducted. If McConnell's friends are elected, then we can expect them to engage in the same voter suppression tactics used by Republicans nationally, including wiping the voter rolls of likely Democratic voters, closing polling places in Black and brown neighborhoods, rigging election maps to benefit their party at the expense of democracy—and more. To defeat Moscow Mitch next year, we have to defeat his friends this year. [Daily Kos has identified three civic engagement organizations working with frontline communities to register, educate, and mobilize voters ahead of November's election. The next few weeks are critical. Chip in $1 each to groups working to fundamentally change Kentucky.]( - Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is a community of people, inspired by a vision, working for a fair economy, a healthy environment, and an honest democracy. They believe Kentucky can be a place where everyone has a chance to thrive. - Kentucky Commonwealth Alliance Voter Engagement supports the voter engagement efforts of hardworking nonprofits across the state with grants, trainings, and data sharing. They know that we can all share greater success if we work together to empower a stronger universe of Kentucky voters that share our values. - The People’s Campaign is committed to engaging voters around issues because they believe that the best way to bring progressive change is by electing people who already agree with the changes we want to make. Your support furthers voter engagement around education, healthcare access, labor rights, and voting rights. These groups have developed an impressive, coordinated strategy to ramp up enthusiasm for Democratic-leaning voters who may need an extra push to show up for an off-year election. They are looking to mobilize some 190,000 Kentuckians across 29 counties. [This is the work that wins elections. Help Kentucky progressives Get Out The Democratic Vote in 2019 by chipping in to them today.]( Keep fighting, Monique Teal, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
