[Friend, this month, the Editorial team had a goal to raise $125,000 to support the work we do to bring you the news, and we're just $7,585 away. You can help us reach our goal by giving $3 by the end of the day.](
It's been another week of hard work for the Editorial team. Gabe OrtÃz has turned out story after story about DHS and ICE policies that continue to tear families apart at the southern border; Joan McCarter had to cover Trump's latest attack on Obamacare in Wisconsin. And Mark Sumner dug deeper still into Trump's attempts to obstruct the investigations into his actions.
But our writers don't work in a vacuum. They get support from the Tech team that makes sure that every aspect of the Daily Kos site is functioning; our Activism team that provides the tools to the Daily Kos community to take immediate action on pressing issues, and our Administrative team that makes sure all the trains are running on time.
[There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to make sure our writers can bring you the latest news and how it affects the progressive community. This is why it is critical we meet our fundraising goals. Please give $3 today to help us continue our work.](

P.S. Below is the email that was sent our last week about the work the Editorial team does, if you haven't yet, please give it a read.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Friend, put simply, the editorial team at Daily Kos covers the news. But it is so much more than that, with a staff that is dedicated to diving deep into the issues that Democrats and progressives everywhere care about.
From immigration, to health care, to the environment, to social justice, to the machinations of the Trump administration and its Republican enablers, along with the role of the traditional media in all this, the editorial team works every day to bring information and perspective to its readers across the country.
[Daily Kos was founded as a blog and has grown into a progressive news media movement builder. The staff works tirelessly to breakdown the news and provide tools to make real change. We are funded, in large part, by thousands of supporters like you, Friend. We need to raise $85,667 by the end of the month. Can you give $5 to support our work?](
Among those movement builders is Gabe OrtÃz, who for the past two years has put a human face on the horrifying and racist immigration policies of Donald Trump. Or Mark Sumner and Kerry Eleveld, who have painstakingly followed the intricacies of the Robert Mueller investigation, and the endless attempts by Republicans to block or diminish that investigation. And Joan McCarter, who for more than 10 years has covered the battle to get healthcare for all Americans and the ensuing fights from Republicans to take that care away. And a recent addition to our team, Dave Neiwert, who has spent the past 25 years writing about the rise of white supremacist hate groups across America.
The entire Daily Kos editorial team works to bring context to the news that people wonât find if theyâre relying just on the traditional media. Beyond covering the stories that dominate the headlines, it also covers the daily grind of the news, both good and bad. And while in the aftermath of the 2016 election, it seemed that the news was uniformly bad, since the 2018 blue wave, weâve seen the return of the gavel to Nancy Pelosi, a new generation of progressive Democrats dominated by women of color that is energizing the partyâand the entire editorial teamâas we see not only a return of oversight, but a return of lawmakers dedicated to doing the peopleâs work.
[As we head into the 2020 campaign, with your generous support, the Daily Kos editorial team will continue to bring context, information and analysis of the news, and to continue building on the successes of the 2018 election. Our countryâs future depends on it. And on you. Please give $5 to support our work.](
