Friend, this is what Republican voter suppression looks like—real, ugly, and in the flesh: - In Georgia, Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp—who is also the GOP nominee for governor this year—used his state's "exact match" law to put 53,000 voter registrations on hold, 90 percent of which are from people of color. - And in North Dakota, the Supreme Court allowed a new voter ID law passed by the Republican legislature to take effect. This law requires documentation of a residential address, deliberately rendering P.O. boxes—which are heavily used by Native Americans on reservations—as invalid for voting. These are gross, blatant Republican attacks on groups of people who typically vote Democratic, and in both cases, these are states with close races at the top of the ticket this year. Voter disenfranchisement is a common tactic for Republicans, but our elections team has identified 10 races directly impacted by voter suppression efforts this year, as well as races where elected officials can protect voter access in the future where we think Daily Kos readers can make a difference.
