Friend, this email is asking you to do more than just click a few links. Itâs asking you to take a few minutes and engage in possibly the most impactful action you can take on the Supreme Court fight.
We need you to write a personal, emotional letter to your U.S. senators letting them know how not repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) â and thus not confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court â directly impacts your life.
Do you, or someone close to you, have a pre-existing condition? Have you, or someone close to you, gained access to health care because of Obamacare? These are the stories we need to share with U.S. senators to win this fight â and only you can write them.

On Monday, five West Virginians met with Sen. Joe Manchin following his first meeting with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Each constituent present had a pre-existing condition, and expressed their fears that Kavanaugh would rescind their health care protections if confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Brianne Solomon, a teacher from Ashton, West Virginia, was among those in the meeting. She [suffers]( from three pre-existing conditions, including asthma, which is an illness she shares with her son. "[My son] doesn't deserve to be denied access to health care because I passed something onto him genetically." Jacob Redman, a 22-year-old college senior also attended the meeting. Jacob [lost his health insurance]( when his father â who has a genetic condition that causes tumors on the spine â lost his job. They are now both on Medicaid, which has been expanded in West Virginia thanks to the Affordable Care Act. "I told [Sen. Manchin] that given that this issue could possibly come before the court, if the justice was to vote a certain way, what that would mean for millions of people, what that would mean for me on a personal basis, what that would mean for my dad.â' Personal stories change votes. While you may not be able to meet with your senators face-to-face, you can still tell your story and make an impact. Whether it's ensuring your child receives his asthma treatments or the security of knowing your father's genetic condition won't bankrupt him or the right to safe and legal abortion, tell your senators why opposing Kavanaugh's nomination matters to you.

Kavanaughâs threat to the Affordable Care Act isnât merely speculation â itâs one of the reasons he was nominated. In 2011, Kavanaugh opposed a decision to uphold the ACA. In 2015, Kavanaugh wrote that his court should take another look at an earlier ruling that he believed had erred in upholding the ACA. And, of course, Kavanaugh was nominated by Donald Trump, who has promised to repeal the ACA more than 68 times and says that opposition to the ACA is part of his litmus test for judicial nominees.
Last year, we won a major victory when we stopped Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress from dismantling the Affordable Care Act. Personal stories were a huge part of why.
Some of our most powerful moments came when every day people like Brianne and Jacob shared their health care stories. Important swing votes like Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski credit their decision to preserve the Affordable Care Act to the stories they heard from constituents. Democrats like Sen. Manchin who are facing hard re-election campaigns, used the stories to defend their votes. Our personal stories saved our healthcare.
Your voice can make a difference again. Sharing your story with lawmakers will help show them just who we're fighting for when we oppose Kavanaugh. And make it clear that a vote for Brett Kavanaugh is a vote to take away Americaâs health care.
