Friend, the most anticipated news since Justice Kennedy's retirement is out, and it's as bad as we'd feared: President Trump has just nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. [Add your name to oppose this hard right nominee with the DSCC.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Friend, this is serious. Kavanaugh is as conservative as it gets -- and as we expected, he's strongly anti-choice. Roe v. Wade, health care, marriage equality, voting rights, you name it -- so much is at stake. Our top priority right now is holding Republicans' feet to the fire and keeping them from confirming a nominee who simply doesn't support the rights of average Americans. [Join the DSCC in opposing President Trump's hard right nominee -- after all, the people deserve a voice.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( This isn't a partisan act. Judge Kavanaugh is a serious threat to our rights and to the state of our union. Judge Brett Kavanaugh argued that the D.C. Circuit should consider the claim that the Affordable Care Act was unconstitutional. Even his own fellow judges called his argument "flawed" and a "misread" of Supreme Court precedent. But it's not the first time ideology and bias has played a big role in Brett Kavanaugh's decisions. Kavanaugh believes the president's power should go unchecked and authored Executive Order 13233 in 2001, which gave the president virtual veto power over what records of theirs would be released, a huge breach in constitutional separation of power. We can't expect this guy to remain nonpartisan on the bench; he's not going to protect our rights and especially not women's right to choose. President Trump promised that his nominees would overturn Roe v. Wade, punish women for their choices, and demolish the ACA, ending protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Judge Kavanaugh has certainly passed that test. Equally concerning, this could be the court that decides if the president has the authority to pardon himself. President Trump has every incentive to cover himself from the potential results of the Russia investigation. We cannot let the Senate confirm a nominee who would fall in lockstep with his political motivations and set our health care laws back for a generation. [We must act now. Add your name to use your voice to show that this extreme nominee doesn't deserve a seat on our nation's highest court:]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Thanks, Chuck Schumer for the DSCC Paid for by DSCC.
