[Sign Demand Progress' petition: add your name to support the No Kings Act]( [ADD YOUR NAME](   friend, A New York Times report just dropped detailing how Chief Justice John Roberts worked behind the scenes to secure the extreme right-wing Trump immunity ruling. The Times concludes that Roberts engineered “Trump’s Supreme Court winning streak.”1 The dangerous “absolute immunity” ruling from Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and the other conservatives on SCOTUS could let Trump off the hook in all of his criminal charges. Democrats in Congress are fighting back to preserve democracy and free and fair elections with the No Kings Act. This legislation would invalidate the extreme Trump immunity ruling and say clearly that presidents do NOT have immunity for criminal actions.2 [Sign the petition: Congress must have an answer to the dangerous anti-democratic Supreme Court rulings. Pass the No Kings Act!]( [Add Your Name]( The No Kings Act would make clear that No One is Above the Law, not even current and former presidents of the United States. In a democracy, the people must be able to hold its leaders accountable. In her dissenting opinion on the absolute immunity ruling, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote, "In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law." She added that she feared for our democracy.3 Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “The Founders were explicit – no man in America shall be a king. Yet, in their disastrous decision, the Supreme Court threw out centuries of precedent and anointed Trump and subsequent presidents as kings above the law.”4 And that’s exactly why Schumer introduced the No Kings Act — to override this dangerous SCOTUS ruling and protect American democracy.
