Being an independent news outlet and activism hub is tough, friend. That's why Daily Kos is the only one around. Daily Kos has been hit by a double whammy this year. Ad revenue has seriously declined in recent years, as Big Tech companies like Amazon, Facebook, and Google have taken over the online ad market. That decline has made us reliant on grassroots donations, but those have slipped this year too. This was a problem for lots of progressive groups until Kamala Harris took over the top of the ticket and drove Dem energy through the roof. Even with that burst of excitement, though, we still have to make up for lost time. So, I have to ask you again: [Friend, please donate $5 right now to help offset the cost of Daily Kos' GOTV campaign if you haven't already. We're working to recruit 100,000 GOTV volunteers, but we can only make this happen with your support.]( [Please Donate]( Thank you again, Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos   Friend, we like that Daily Kos is a small, independent news outlet and activism hub. It means we're not beholden to the personal agenda of a billionaire backer or the interests of big corporate sponsors. It keeps us accountable to you, our readers. Our biggest source of income is donations of just a few bucks at a time from readers like you—and when I say a few bucks, I mean it. Our average donation is just $9.44! These small donations add up, though, making up more than 60 percent of our revenue. That means we can really only launch a major new campaign, like recruiting 100,000 volunteers to help Get Out The Vote this fall, with your support. We literally can't do this without you. Daily Kos has been hit by a double whammy this year: Ad revenue has long been in decline across the news business and, on top of that, grassroots donations slipped too. It puts real pressure on us heading into one of the most important elections of our lifetimes. We're still dedicated to Getting Out The Vote this fall, though. [It's too important to sit on the sidelines in this election. That's why I'm asking you to please donate $5 to help offset the cost of Daily Kos' GOTV campaign and help us recruit 100,000 volunteers this fall.]( [Please Donate]( Thank you, Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos   P.S. [Can't donate or already donated? We could still use your help! Volunteer with Daily Kos right now by writing postcards to Democratic voters in swing states—a tactic that has proven effective at boosting voter turnout!](   If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
