Friend, Daily Kos is a small, independent news and activism hub. So when we commit to a big project, like recruiting 100,000 volunteers to Get Out The Vote this fall, that's a very big deal for us. We don't have a billionaire backer, like some right-wing outlets, and we don't have big corporate sponsors. No, our biggest source of income is grassroots donations of just a few bucks at a time—and when I say just a few bucks, I mean it. Our average donation is just $9.44! That may seem small, but for us it's huge because these donations make up more than 60 percent of our revenue. Recruiting 100,000 volunteers isn't cheap or easy work. It has real costs, like staff time and tech expenses, and represents an opportunity loss because we could be spending this time doing other things. There is simply too much at stake to sit on the sidelines, though, so we're rolling up our sleeves and getting to work. Now, I need to ask you: [Friend, our ability to Get Out The Vote literally depends on your support. Can you please donate $5 right now to help offset the cost of Daily Kos' GOTV campaign and help us recruit 100,000 volunteers this fall?]( [Please Donate]( Thank you, Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos   P.S. [Not everyone can afford a donation, but we could still use your help. Join one of our volunteer efforts now by clicking here.](   If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
