Ready or not, friend, Election Day is just six months away—and we better be ready because losing is not an option. I have some good news and bad news about that. First, the good news: Republicans are on the back foot, and they know it. On Tuesday, the Washington Post ran a story saying that the chaos in the GOP House has so [turned off]( Republican mega-donors that their fundraising has fallen off a cliff. Just two days later, Politico reported that Mitch McConnell was pouring [cold water]( on the idea that Republicans could win big in the Senate, despite the hugely favorable map they have this year. Now, the bad news: Grassroots donations—which have powered Democrats to victory through the past few election cycles—are in decline. Daily Kos had its second-best fundraising year ever in 2023, which made us a big [outlier](. Progressive groups have faced some serious hardships, but we hadn't seen any sort of downturn until this spring. Now, we've missed our fundraising goals in both March and April. [We can't win in 2024 by doing less than we did in 2020, but we need to hit these fundraising goals now if we're going to have the resources we need to recruit 100,000 volunteers this fall. That's why I'm asking you to please donate $5 to Daily Kos right now.]( [PLEASE DONATE]( Thank you, Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
