Friend, in a recent piece describing the problems at NPR, a former editor and producer [recalled]( this from 2016: In another meeting, I and a couple of other editorial leaders were encouraged to make sure that any coverage of a Trump lie was matched with a story about a lie from Hillary Clinton. Another colleague asked what to do if one candidate just lied more than the other. Another silent response. This anecdote may be eight years old, but traditional news outlets are still wedded to the idea that they must be equally critical of both sides. Look no further than the parade of stories in The New York Times about President Biden's age and fitness for office for evidence of that.
