Friend, [sign the petition: To support the USPS and underserved communities, we need postal banking.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
This should be simple: postal banking could provide [resources]( to the underbanked while providing revenue to the U.S. Postal Service. Seems like a no-brainer. So whatâs the problem? There is [strong opposition]( bankrolled by big money standing in the way. The banking, check cashing, and small loans industries, not to mention the GOP, do not want to see this service. Thatâs why weâre taking action and calling on you to join us, Friend. It is up to Congress to enact legislation for the USPS to provide banking servicesâweâre here to demand they do just that. [Sign the petition to Congress: Immediately reintroduce and pass postal banking legislation.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
Thanks for all you do,
Erin Tulley, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier calling on Congress to pass postal banking legislation: ---------------------------------------------------------------
Friend, [sign the petition: To support the USPS and underserved communities, we need postal banking.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
Under Postmaster General Louis DeJoyâs leadership, mail delivery has slowed, rates have increased five times, dozens of post offices have closed, and thousands of jobs have been lost. The U.S. Postal Service is sufferingâan essential service that many, many Americans rely on. Congress and President Biden must immediately focus on ways to support the USPS and the communities it serves. Postal banking could not only support the expansion of post office services to those who need them, it could also generate additional revenue to support the USPS itself. [Sign the petition: To support the USPS and underserved communities, we need postal banking.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
Postal banking would provide a service to the public to handle simple banking needs, such as cashing checks or managing accounts, at their local post office branch. [Over 7 million American households]( are currently âunbanked,â having no access to a checking account or basic financial services. It would also take aim at predatory practicesâlike high-fee prepaid debit cards and overdraft feesâthat have taken advantage of unbanked and underbanked Americans, and offer small-dollar loans that could eliminate the market for predatory payday loans. All this while generating revenue that will boost the USPS for all Americans. We must demand Congress reintroduce postal banking legislation, like the Postal Banking Act, and support not only the USPS, but also underserved communities across the country. [Sign the petition to Congress: Immediately reintroduce and pass postal banking legislation.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
