Kennedy might have a vast family fortune upon which he can draw, but we don't, and this suit has been a major financial burden for Daily Kos at a time when news outlets are [seriously hurting](. CBS News, the New York Times, and Reuters all ran similar stories saying the event was organized by right-wing extremists. Kennedy didn't sue these outlets, though. He sued us. Kennedy may have thought Daily Kos was an easy target. We're a small, independent outlet. We don't have the resources that the New York Times has, and so perhaps he thought we'd roll over and give him what he wanted. He was dead wrong.
