Thatâs because these folks are worried that ranchers, farmers, loggers, and others are turning the Amazon rainforest into a grassy savannah, thereby eliminating a vitally important ecosystem that pulls carbon out of the atmosphere and emits massive amounts of oxygen, serving as the proverbial lungs of the planet. Burning trees and other activity in the Amazon recently caused the region to emit more greenhouse gases than it absorbed in recent years. Already stripped of her parliamentary immunity, she has said she is innocent of the charges of criminal organization, money laundering and corruption, adding she didnât know anything about the nearly 150,000 euros ($161,000) that cops found in her home. He was arrested on Dec. 9 while carrying nearly 750,000 euros in a suitcase. Another important figure in the scandal is Marc Tarabella, a Belgian lawmaker. The vice chair of parliamentâs delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula, he played an âimportant role in the leadup to Qatarâs hosting of the FIFA World Cup,â [noted](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMveWRtaThseXpjci8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) Politico. EU officials nonetheless have suspended all work related to Qatar and Morocco. European officials had already ruffled feathers in Qatar during the World Cup soccer championships last year due to their criticism of the sheikdomâs treatment of the LGBTQ community. Then, Kaili was one of Qatarâs defenders. âToday, the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is a proof actually of how sports diplomacy can lead to a historic transformation of a country whose reforms have inspired the Arab world,â she said in November, [according](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvaWY1cGt6dm9pYS8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) to CNN. âQatar is a leader in labor rights.â Qatar has made some strides in reforming its much-criticized labor system, which consists largely of foreign workers from developing countries who have complained of mistreatment and the withholding of pay, as Human Rights Watch [described](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvYmdoOGs4MnV3NC8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa). Found in the planetâs upper atmosphere, the ozone layer protects the Earth from the Sunâs ultraviolet radiation, which is linked to skin cancer, compromised immune systems and agricultural damage. The findings showed that the recovery will be gradual: If current policies remain in place, the protective layer could recover to 1980 levels â before the appearance of the ozone hole â by 2040. It will return to normal over the Artic by 2045 and over Antarctica by 2066. The report noted that since 2018, global emissions from the banned chemical chlorofluorocarbon-11 (CFC-11), which was used as a refrigerant and in insulating foams, have decreased after rising unexpectedly for a number of years. Scientists and environmental groups hailed the assessment, saying the ozoneâs recovery underscores the importance of taking climate action. They added that it could set a precedent for the broader regulation of climate-warming emissions. âOur success in phasing out ozone-eating chemicals shows us what can and must be done â as a matter of urgency â to transition away from fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse gases and so limit temperature increase,â World Meteorological Organization Secretary-General Petteri Taalas said. ~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RoaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMva3g3Y2I0bzNoZC8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmYmbGhfZW09dHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODklNDBnbWFpbC5jb21XA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa [Advertisement](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvem43Y2FjNnJmei8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) Digging In [Gaza](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RoaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvaXdwaG9udXJpbi8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmYmbGhfZW09dHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODklNDBnbWFpbC5jb21XA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) / [Israel](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RoaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvenJvMTh2aHQ3bC8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmYmbGhfZW09dHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODklNDBnbWFpbC5jb21XA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) / [West Bank](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RoaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvZGZvanY3cmV6ai8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmYmbGhfZW09dHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODklNDBnbWFpbC5jb21XA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) Israelâs new far-right government imposed a series of punitive steps against Palestinians this week in response to the latterâs efforts to involve the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the decades-long conflict, Reuters [reported](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvenN2cWp2bGk0dC8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa). Researchers explained that Martian winds have around 99 percent less force compared to those on Earth because of the red planetâs thin atmosphere. For their study, a research team collected detailed information about Mars and used the data to create a global climate model to simulate the different wind speeds across the planet. The team also calculated how much power Earth-made wind turbines could generate and compared these figures with the estimated energy requirements for sustaining six people on Mars for a mission lasting 500 Martian days. The researchers discovered that wind energy might not only supplement solar energy â particularly at night and during strong dust storms that block out sunlight â but also completely replace it in some regions. Still, the authors noted that their findings derive from a theoretical standpoint and more research is needed to determine the practicalities of building wind turbines on Mars. ~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RoaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvdnk1bHk4cXlreS8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmYmbGhfZW09dHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODklNDBnbWFpbC5jb21XA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa [Advertisement](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0REaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvd3AwYnpyNGI3dC8_bGhfYWlkPTQ1MjExMTkmbGhfY2lkPW1scGs4eHM4ZmZXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) [Unsubscribe from this list](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0RWaHR0cHM6Ly9yZWFkLmxldHRlcmhlYWQuZW1haWwvZGFpbHktY2hhdHRlci1jaGFybG90dGUtb2JzZXJ2ZXIvdW5zdWJzY3JpYmU_aWQ9QDQ1MjExMTlXA3NwY0IKY7Xilr5j1zW6S1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luODlAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAABa) Copyright © 2023 DailyChatter, All rights reserved. 32 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA 02110 [Made with Letterhead [Letterhead logo]](~/AASU4wA~/RgRloRveP0QiaHR0cHM6Ly9saW5rLndoZXJlYnkudXMvbmVwbm83czh5c1cDc3BjQgpjteKWvmPXNbpLUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW44OUBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAAFo~)
