A Crunchbase analysis of investment in nuclear projects shows companies have collectively pulled in over $3.4 billion this past year. [Top rounds: Bill Gates’ TerraPower scores and biotech startups surge]( Things picked up a little on the funding front this week, mainly thanks to a monster round from a Bill Gates-founded startup and the immense interest in all things biotech and health care related. Aside from those rounds, marketing, travel and fintech startups also saw some large raises in what may be August’s best week so far. [More tech companies cut jobs in the past week]( The tech sector is still experiencing job losses. Here’s which companies issued layoffs, from VC-funded startups to big names in tech. New additions in the past week include ThredUp, Orbit and Thirty Madison. [Battery Ventures scales back investments in 2022]( After a busy year of investing in 2021, Boston-based Battery Ventures seems to be recharging this year. The nearly 40-year-old firm has invested in more than 450 companies since being founded. But despite a new fund, Battery, like many VC firms this year, has seemingly been much slower to deploy its money than in the heydays of last year, according to Crunchbase data.
