Reports speculated the move is part of a strategy by Twitter to cut costs and slim down operations after an unsuccessful effort to find an acquirer last year. Jeter’s Players’ Tribune raises $40M [The Players’ Tribune], a site co-founded by retired Yankees star [Derek Jeter] that features content from athletes, has raised $40 million in a round led by IVP and joined by other new and existing investors, Fortune [reports]. The New York-based startup, founded in 2014, has raised a total of $58 million to date.
