Iran has loomed large as one of Hamas’ most generous financial backers, providing the militant group with resources it needs to carry out acts of terrorism. The recent attacks in Israel are a perfect example. But perhaps surprisingly, Hamas is relying on another funding source: cryptocurrencies. Now the writing on the wall is becoming increasingly clear… The days for most cryptocurrency platforms are numbered — most, but not all. A Money-Making Operation Hamas may have started out as a group fighting for a Palestinian cause. But that was long ago. Today, it’s first and foremost a money-making operation. Terrorizing Israel is profitable. Hamas leaders live abroad in mansions. And “much desired” peace is actually a threat to its business. Everything hinges on Hamas’ ability to move money across borders and outside of banking controls. But we’re not talking about briefcases full of cash. That’s too old fashioned. These days, Hamas relies on cryptos. The Darkside of Crypto In 2019, Hamas announced it would start accepting cryptocurrency. Within a year, it received $7 million worth. Why the preference for crypto? For one reason, it’s mobile. For another, it’s difficult to trace. These reasons are why the U.S. government has long been saying that crypto is dangerous. It’s a currency that enables all sorts of sinister activities, from prostitution to drug running. The thing is, the government’s right. Crypto does finance a lot of shady behavior. But for most people around the world, this type of behavior was far away from their day-to-day lives… Until a few days ago, that is… Israel Under Attack This week, headlines and social media have put the dark side of crypto on display. I’m talking about Hamas’ attacks on Israel, apparently financed largely with cryptos. This is an incident that hits close to home — a fearful, tangible example of how crypto can be viewed as a dangerous currency… And you can bet that the U.S. government will seize this opportunity. Here’s how… The Push for FedNow Using these attacks as a backdrop, the government will undoubtedly voice the need for transparency and security when it comes to digital currencies. Conventional cryptos and conventional crypto-trading platforms don’t provide that. But do you know what will? The FedNow’s central bank digital currency! If you read my report on this CBDC - if not, [check it out here]( - you’ll know that the government is eager to unveil this currency. And now those rollout efforts will be increased significantly. I expect the cryptocurrency infrastructure of today to disappear. That means existing trading platforms will soon fold (or at least take a major hit). Meanwhile, mainstream financial institutions will quickly take over the crypto world. In six months, you’ll be buying Bitcoin from Fidelity, not Coinbase. This is a major shift that was already on its way. But in light of the senseless violence in Israel, expect a cryptocurrency revolution to come sooner than we originally thought. If you’re a Pro subscriber, I’ll share my favorite way to invest in this coming shift. In the meantime, be safe. And remember that we’re always in it to win it.
