Trump? Biden? None of the Above? Where We Stand in the Race for the Presidency I don't care where you fall on the political spectrum. No matter who you support, the upcoming race for the Presidency will have a massive impact on the U.S. economy and your investment portfolio. Keep in mind that Democrats favor certain types of initiatives that affect the stock market, and so do Republicans. So the winner of this race matters to all investors. How is the race shaping up as we head into the fall? Let's take a look... The Current Landscape Right now, a Trump vs. Biden rematch is the odds-on favorite. That's thanks to Trump's unwavering supporters and a lack of any Democrat willing to challenge the current President. The thing is, I don't think that'll be the matchup when it comes time to vote. A lot of twists and turns are headed our way. This unpredictability extends beyond the race for the Oval Office, too. There are a number of longstanding politicians whose seats might be up for grabs soon. For example: Health issues seem to be troubling Mitch McConnell, who experienced a second public incident earlier this week. Meanwhile, Diane Feinstein is battling poor health, as is John Fetterman. So much could happen between now and next fall. But let's turn our attention back to the Presidential Race... Issues on Both Sides Trump is in the spotlight once again. His recent mugshot has gone viral. Of course, if he is convicted of anything, he won't be able to run. And even if he can run, he doesn't have a lot of Republican friends at this point. Meanwhile, Biden could use some allies, too. His age is showing, and it's likely that a lot of voters don't want to see him in office for another term, simply based on his ailing health. Could we see an underdog rise up? It's certainly possible. Bottom line: This race is just getting started. And no matter how it shapes up, the market will be impacted. Over the next several months, I'll be keeping an eye on what's going on and how news and moves can reveal opportunities for us to make money. In the meantime, we're in it to win it. Zatlin out.
