Support the movement that’s aCCelerating free and open access to knowledge, one contributor at a time [View this email in your browser]( [Donate]( [support-the-movement-banner] Video by Sebastiaan Ter Burg, CC BY Creative Commons is the global leader for free and open access to knowledge. [With 1.3 billion pieces of content and thousands of advocates around the world]( we provide the legal tools and infrastructure for hundreds of projects including Wikipedia, Europeana, Internet Archive, and Flickr Commons. Our work is vital to the open web: We're at the forefront of open access publishing, free access to research, and high profile repositories like Met Open Access and Gates Open Research. We are a vibrant community committed to a free and innovative world, but we're fighting a battle for the Commons. This year, you've seen our campaigns for global knowledge and freedom to share and maybe even joined with our Global Network at events and gatherings around the world. The struggle for the Commons will continue – [but we need your support.]( Together with the global movement for open, Creative Commons stands in solidarity with communities most affected by these threats to free access to knowledge. In the last year we’ve published policy papers, held a massive global summit of sharing, profiled creators and makers who believe that life is better when we share, and released legal and usability tools to make your experience of the commons even better. That's why we're launching aCCelerators, a new giving program for community members who are ready to fight with CC for free and open knowledge around the world. [Can you join at $5/month or $75/year?]( [accelerators-logo] We're a global community of creators in every field, from law to social justice to photography to technology – [will you give $5 monthly to support?]( Terry Williams, our first CC aCCelerator, says, "I am supporting Creative Commons because I believe this organization provides important leadership in the open movement. I feel strongly that we need to get back to a place where the idea of the 'Commons' is once again central to our public life." Our membership base is a crucial part of our work, but we can’t do it without you. [Just $5/month will help get us there.]( (And get you perks!) I’m so grateful for your support of the commons. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next year.
