We're thrilled to announce that three of our students won awards for their submissions to the 2023 Congressional App Challenge. One of our students, Jayden, took home the honor of first place in the 2nd California District! Meet Our 2023 Congressional App Challenge Winners Established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, [the Congressional App Challenge]( invites students from all participating congressional districts to compete by creating software applications on a platform of their choice. Apps are judged based on quality of the idea; implementation of the idea; and demonstrated excellence of coding skills. See how three of our students won in their districts! [Allergy Card App]( - 1st Place Winner Our student Jayden [won the 2023 Congressional App Challenge]( for California’s Second Congressional District. Jayden’s winning submission, [Allergy Card (video)]( built with [Thunkable]( allows the user to create their own personal allergy card that can be translated into 15+ languages. [MindfulBites]( - Third Place Winner Our student Suvid earned a third place finish in the 11th Congressional District of New Jersey. [His MindfulBites app (video)]( revolutionizes food waste prevention, empowering users to create efficient grocery lists and manage their food inventory. The app alerts you to expiring items, suggests recipes, and facilitates easy donations to food shelters! Ticks Be Gone App - Honorable Mention Two of our students also won Honorable Mention for their Ticks Be Gone app, In fact, they are the youngest to receive an award. The app, also built with [Thunkable]( reveals information about different types of ticks, and shares how to evaluate and test for Lyme Disease. Plus it reveals how to remove a tick. Prepare for the Congressional App Challenge The Challenge opens for submission in November, so now is a great time to begin building your student's skills.
