News outlet famous for lying is now lying about how trustworthy it is. [Courier]( Friend, Have you heard of The Epoch Times? Millions in Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, Cleveland, Tampa, and other places are seeing these billboards popping up all over their cities: Photo Credit: PBS [We’ll tell you more about The Epoch Times in a moment, but if you’re ready to make a difference in COURIER’s fight against right-wing misinformation, can you chip in $10 to support our honest journalism?]( The Epoch Times may be advertising itself as “#1 Trusted News”, but the truth is that it’s a right-wing propaganda outlet that’s deepening the information crisis and undermining our democracy. You wouldn’t get that from their billboards or marketing. They brand themselves as a “truly independent” news organization. They’ve run ads under the banner of “Pure American Journalism” or “Honest Paper.” The truth is far darker. During the 2020 election, The Epoch Times spent millions in advertising for Donald Trump. In fact, the outlet spent more money on social media advertising for Trump than any other organization outside of the Trump campaign. That’s not all. The Epoch Times has made millions propping COVID-19 misinformation, the Big Lie, and other baseless conspiracy theories. All the while, they’ve been masquerading as trustworthy independent journalism. We see right through them, but what about those who exclusively get their news from social media? What about the thousands served daily with a barrage of ads saying The Epoch Times is trustworthy, real news? We founded COURIER as the good information antidote to the bad information that outlets like The Epoch Times push. We deliver factual stories to the online spaces where people actually spend their time. We fight misinformation from The Epoch Times and other right-wing bad actors at its source. [If we’re going to keep exposing right-wing propaganda outlets like The Epoch Times, we need resources to keep our newsrooms running.
