While mainstream media outlets cover Trump’s every move, Fox News buries their head in the sand

While mainstream media outlets cover Trump’s every move, Fox News buries their head in the sand. [Courier]( Friend, The legacy media are all-in on wall-to-wall Trump coverage again. The tipping point? Trump’s New York “hush-money” trial. Since it started, every movement, statement, and courtroom update has received the full “breaking news” treatment across cable news and social media. Many have argued that this obsessive coverage of Trump only helps him. We don’t disagree – nonstop coverage of Trump’s rallies and controversy helped him win in 2016, and it could be a factor for why he’s currently ahead of President Biden in the polls. Fox News, it won’t surprise you, is on the totally opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of obsessing over trial details, they’re barely covering it at all, except when Trump or one of his MAGA allies are ranting about how the trial is rigged outside the New York courthouse: [We’ll explain more in a moment, but if you’re ready for media that puts democracy ahead of profit and partisanship, can you take a second to pitch in $15 and support our trustworthy, substantive local journalism in 10 battleground states nationwide?]( Look – Trump is the first former president to face a criminal trial in U.S. history, and the allegations against Trump go far beyond the salacious details of paying off a porn star to keep a romantic relationship secret. The case's core is a hush-money scheme to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. Holding Trump accountable for this scheme, then, is about protecting democracy from a wannabe autocrat who has a pattern of putting what’s best for himself ahead of our laws and the Constitution. Unfortunately, too little of the media’s coverage is focused on the gravity of the charges. Turn on CNN, and you see a camera following his motorcade through Manhattan. Head over to Fox, and you’ll barely know there’s a trial at all unless Trump or one of his MAGA allies are on-screen smearing the American justice system as rigged and political. Here at COURIER, our mission is to provide an alternative to these polar opposites that are failing our democracy right now. Our reporters work around the clock to publish factual, unbiased coverage of the issues that actually matter. We’re not afraid to call Trump an anti-democratic autocrat. And we don’t use salacious trial details to drive clicks and profits. We put Trump’s trial in its proper context and explain why it matters to voters and American democracy.
