Sign our petition and tell the mainstream media they need to cover climate change. Friend, It’s

Sign our petition and tell the mainstream media they need to cover climate change. [Courier]( Friend, It’s Earth Day, and here at COURIER we’re renewing our commitment to championing climate change coverage, especially at the local level. From The Keystone’s coverage of one Pennsylvania county’s attempt to hold oil companies accountable for climate change to Floricua’s recent story about how climate change is creating damaging hurricanes and destroying the coral reef, our newsrooms are covering the local impact of climate change in real-time: The rest of the media can’t say the same. Climate change misinformation and apathy are rampant. Something has to change before it’s too late. [That’s why we’re calling on the legacy media to dedicate more time and resources to covering climate change in our communities. This is the issue of our time, friend, and we’re asking you to join us in demanding the media gives the issue the attention it deserves!]( We’re not the first ones to notice this trend, friend. In 2016, when Americans questioned the lack of climate coverage in the news, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes called it a “ratings killer.” In 2018, when a groundbreaking climate report revealed we had 12 years to reverse course and address greenhouse gas emissions, fewer than half of the biggest papers mentioned it at all. The media is prioritizing ratings and profits over covering a defining moment in human history. [So, friend, can you sign our petition now and let the mainstream media know we want more climate coverage?]( Thanks for your help. At COURIER, we understand that climate change impacts every community differently. We’re proud that we can make our trustworthy local news available to those who need it most, and we’re even prouder to have your support in this effort.
