The right-wing media wants to control the narrative around Trump’s trial. We can’t let them get away with it. [Courier]( Friend, Trump’s New York hush money trial began this week, and with it, the right-wing media circus amped up their defense of Trump. While Trump’s lawyers defend him in the courtroom, Fox News and other right-wing media outlets are rushing to defend him on TV and online. In one of the more ridiculous examples of this kind of coverage, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner praised Trump for “respecting the court” just hours after Trump used the courthouse steps for an impromptu press conference where he called his case “an assault on America” and falsely claimed that he was the victim of political persecution. [Americans rely on the news to learn what’s happening in the first-time criminal prosecution of a United States president – COURIER exists to make sure that news is honest. If you already support our mission, can you chip in $10 now?]( Trump’s control over the right-wing media was central to making him President the first time around. Prosecutors in this trial have already mentioned Trump’s 2016 meeting with The National Enquirer executive, who promised to shower Trump with positive stories while planting negative stories about his opponents. But this time, with Trump being the first President to face criminal charges, it’s different. You see, friend, the public isn’t allowed inside the courtroom in New York. There’s no video or audio of the trial—even still photographs are limited. That means unbiased, honest media coverage is more important than ever. And lies and misinformation can spread unabated. Fox News and other right-wing media outlets spread Trump talking points for views, money, and political clout. But at COURIER, we will never sacrifice our values or our belief in democracy just to make a quick buck. Our mission is to provide honest, unbiased coverage of the issues that matter most in the communities that need it most. We meet people in their email inboxes and social media feeds, where they’re most likely to encounter the lies Trump and Fox News are spreading, and give them the truth. We’re the good information antidote to the bad information crisis. [But we can’t do it without you. We can only provide free news thanks to the generosity of supporters like you.
