It was a time to reflect on the indomitable spirit, rich heritage, and transformative contributions of the Black community throughout history. It also served as a poignant reminder to honor the struggles, achievements, and resilience that have shaped our world. Because we know that to put an end to corporate abuse, we must dismantle the racist systems that have allowed corporate power to function and grow with impunity. This year, Corporate Accountability’s Black Collective team was particularly excited to highlight the impactful contributions of Black women in shaping history, culture, and social justice movements. In particular, they paid tribute to nine Black women who left an indelible mark on history. Throughout the month, we amplified their voices, shared their stories, and celebrated the trailblazing women who paved the way for progress. Check out all of their stories on our [Twitter](, [Instagram](, or [Facebook]( pages. In addition to celebrating Black History month, the Black Collective also [released its new Framework](, a living document that articulates what the team is setting out to do in the next several years. The framework is presented in a beautiful illustration by artist and movement builder Paloma Rae, and will serve as the Black Collective’s guidepost and roadmap. As you’ll see in the framework, the Black Collective is advancing this work on many levels: Educating our team and community on the rich history of Black resistance, from the leadership of political prisoners like Ruchell Magee and George Jackson during Black August to stories from the reparations movement. Exposing Wells Fargo’s century-long history of racist actions. And granting funding to Black-led organizations advancing reparations, Black-led organizations supporting Black youth in schools, and organizations taking a stand against police brutality. [Check it out and learn more about what the Black Collective is up to.]( Advancing international policies to hold Big Tobacco liable [Picture of Patti Lynn with the quote "My time in this role has only strengthened my belief in the power of organizing."](For decades, the tobacco industry has caused millions of deaths and cases of preventable disease, polluted the environment, and violated human rights. But at the latest round of the U.N. global talks on tobacco control, Corporate Accountability’s team of organizers and experts, in close partnership with government champions and allies, were able to secure a major victory. Governments adopted a decision that strengthens tobacco industry liability measures and could serve as a model for pursuing damages against the fossil fuel industry and other Big Polluters. [Check out updates from our organizing on our Twitter feed](, and stay tuned for a more in-depth recap of what we were able to accomplish. Help us find our next executive leadership! [We Are Hiring Executive Direcor(s)](As we shared last month, our Executive Director, Patti Lynn, will be transitioning out of her role. We’ve just launched the search for our next executive director or co-director pair, and we hope you’ll help spread the word. The next executive leadership will direct organizational strategy, develop campaigns, and build organizational culture. They’ll hold their own against CEOs and other representatives of transnational corporate power. And they’ll lead the organization to joyfully seize this historical moment of profound opportunity. [Read more about the position and help spread the word!]( Powering campaigns every single month [Challenge corporate power every month! Make a monthly gift.]( The amazing response to our monthly donor push this past month has inspired a generous donor to offer an additional $3,000 in matching funds to recruit even more folks! So we’re extending this campaign for another week. Help us reach our new increased goal of 70 new monthly donors by March 7, and your first gift will be matched with an additional $150. [Will you be the one to help us reach our increased goal and power our campaigns?]( When you do, we will send you a Corporate Accountability sticker as a thank you! [Give now]( [[ Facebook ]]( [[ Twitter ]]( [[ Instagram ]](  Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential. [State Disclosures.]( Write to us at info@corporateaccountability.org or call us at +1-800-688-8797 (U.S.).
