Dear Friend, February is a month of profound significance – Black History Month. This is a time for us to reflect on the indomitable spirit, rich heritage, and transformative contributions of the Black community throughout history. This month also serves as a poignant reminder to honor the struggles, achievements, and resilience that have shaped our world. Historically and today, corporations have exploited the labor of Black people, poisoned the land and water in Black communities, and targeted predominantly Black communities to sell their toxic products. So to put an end to corporate abuse, we must dismantle the racist systems that have allowed corporate power to function and grow with impunity. And in recognizing Black History Month, we embrace the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the past and present, fostering a sense of unity and commitment to justice. This year, our Black Collective team is particularly excited to highlight the impactful contributions of Black women in shaping history, culture, and social justice movements. In particular, we will be paying tribute to nine Black women who have left an indelible mark on history across different fields including the arts, politics, literature, civil rights, and more. Through our social media campaign, we aim to amplify their voices, share their stories, and celebrate the trailblazing women who have paved the way for progress.
