Your gift to Corporate Accountability fuels lifesaving campaigns. [Corporate Accountability]( [Image of Akinbode at the Nation Summit on the Human Right to Water]( Join us in challenging abusive corporations [Give Now]( Dear Friend, I know you’ve recently heard from my dear friend Patti Lynn about the work of Corporate Accountability. Patti and I met in 2000 when we worked shoulder-to-shoulder to challenge the tobacco industry, which was luring youth across the Global South (and in my country of Nigeria) into tobacco addiction with deadly consequences. It was then that I saw firsthand Corporate Accountability’s power and passion, and I quickly learned what an invaluable ally they are to people around the world standing up to corporate power. Together, we secured international law that curbs the power of Big Tobacco and makes it harder to prey on young people in my country and around the world. [That’s why I hope you’ll join us. Make a donation today to fuel the campaigns that are challenging the most dangerous corporations in the world.]( Friend, I’ve been challenging corporate power in Nigeria for all of my adult life. Right now, my organization is pushing back against the private water industry here, with ripple effects across the whole of Africa -- and we’re partnering with Corporate Accountability to win. You can help stop the abuses of the most dangerous corporations in the world. [Give Now]( In the village where I grew up, I was taught that water is the essence of life. So, I have a sacred connection with water. I don’t waste it, I don’t take it for granted, and I don’t treat it as a commodity to be bought and sold. You can imagine my outrage when I learned that, for decades, the World Bank has been pushing for water privatization in Lagos, the mega-city I now call home. Privatization would allow global corporations to sell our Lagos water back to me and my family for a profit. When water is privatized, water rates skyrocket and the infrastructure that keeps our water safe to drink can easily crumble. While a corporation reaps the profits, my neighbors who struggle to feed their families may be forced to choose between paying for clean water or sending their kids to school. [When you make a gift to Corporate Accountability, you’re supporting lifesaving work.]( Challenging entrenched corporate interests in my country is life or death. I’ve stared down the barrel of a gun more times than I care to count. And each time I get up and continue on, it’s because there is so much work to do to bring about a just world for all people. [Will you make a gift today to help challenge corporate power?]( It means so much for me to know that Patti, her colleagues, and the members of Corporate Accountability have my back and are in it with me. Together, we’re challenging the biggest and most dangerous corporations in the world. It gives me hope that thousands of people around the world -- just like you -- are with us. [Please pledge your support to challenge corporate abuse around the world by making a gift today.]( [Akinbode Oluwafemi] Onward, Akinbode Oluwafemi Pronouns: he/him/his Executive Director Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) [Give Now]( [[ Facebook ]]( [[ Twitter ]]( [[ Instagram ]]( Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet.
